Ryan completed his residency at UC San Diego before joining Stanford in 2018, initially as a Body MRI fellow and subsequently faculty member. He studied physics and molecular biology as an undergraduate and immunology for his PhD dissertation, which centered on small molecule modifiers of CD4+ T cells. His academic interests center on MRI and PET/MRI applications for hepatobiliary and pancreatic imaging, having worked on 4D flow and abbreviated MRI in liver imaging, and is currently managing adult liver and pancreatic MRI here at Stanford. He is also a member of MIMRIC, with interests centering on applications of MR-guided cryotherapy.
